Christmas party venue in Vienna: 80 seats, a piano and pierogi

1 October 2026

80 seats, a piano and the Tachles pierogi: how to plan your Christmas party in our culture cellar in Leopoldstadt, Vienna 1020.

At some point in autumn somebody on the team asks: "So who's organising the Christmas party?" Everyone looks at you. And now you are looking for a Christmas party venue in Vienna.

You find lists with ten tips, twenty tips, fifty tips. We will keep it shorter: one place, and all the answers that go with it. Beneath our culture café on Karmeliterplatz lies the cellar. That is where your party can happen.

"Tachles" comes from Yiddish and means: get to the point. So, let's get to it.

How many people fit in?

80 seats. Enough for the whole department, including the colleague from accounts who never comes along otherwise.

A piano is already down there. Whether someone from your team should play "Last Christmas" on it is another question. Please settle that one internally.

The cellar, by the way, is not a storeroom we clear out quickly for party season. It is a stage: concerts, readings, cabaret and the open stage "Floorspot" happen here. Your party takes place in a room that is used to an audience. More about the cellar itself: Hiring an event space in Vienna: the cellar at the Tachles.

Food: what the kitchen does

Our speciality is pierogi. Gault&Millau 2026 calls them probably the best in Vienna. We are not going to argue. There are seven kinds, vegan ones among them. If you want the whole story: Pierogi in Vienna.

We are also known for barszcz, bigos and szarlotka. What is on the menu right now you can see on the menu page.

Whether and what comes out of the kitchen for your party, we decide per party, not by house rule. You discuss it with Marcin.

And the bar? That is Robert's, with his own cocktails. There are also homemade lemonades, wines from Austrian organic wineries and coffee from Kaffeerösterei Alt Wien. Something for everyone on the team, including whoever has to do the year-end accounts the next morning.

What does it cost?

On Friday and Saturday the cellar works against a minimum spend. We are deliberately not putting a figure here.

For the other days: ask Marcin. He will tell you what applies to your date.

Outside opening hours too

Not every Christmas party starts in the evening. Some companies prefer to celebrate in the afternoon, straight after the last meeting of the year.

That works. The cellar can also be hired outside opening hours. The current opening hours are at the bottom of every page. From when to when you need the room, you agree with Marcin.

Getting everyone here

Karmeliterplatz 1, 1020 Vienna. Leopoldstadt, in the middle of the Karmeliter quarter, right by the Karmelitermarkt.

  • U1 Nestroyplatz
  • U2 Taborstraße
  • Tram 2
  • Bus 5A

In short: the cellar is easy to reach by public transport.

How to enquire

All cellar enquiries go to Marcin Gorski. He co-founded the Tachles and runs the kitchen, the bar and the service. And the cellar.

So that Marcin knows straight away what it is about, include:

  • your preferred date and an alternative date
  • roughly how many of you there are
  • from when to when you want to celebrate
  • what you would like to eat
  • what else you need

On the last point: the piano is a fixed promise. Microphone, lighting, a projector for the year in review? We are not promising anything here that we cannot guarantee. Put it in your enquiry and you will know for sure.

Whether your preferred date is still free is not listed anywhere publicly — ask Marcin.

This is how to reach us — the enquiry goes to Marcin:

Short questions, short answers

How many people fit in the cellar? 80 seats. A piano is already there.

Is there food? We decide that per party, not by house rule. Kitchen and bar are in the same building — what works for your evening, you discuss with Marcin.

What does it cost? Friday and Saturday against a minimum spend. For all other days and the details: ask Marcin.

Is it possible during the day? Yes. The cellar can also be hired outside opening hours. You agree the times with Marcin.

And now?

If you are looking for a cellar with 80 seats, a piano and pierogi in the house for your Christmas party, write to Marcin. Date, number of people, time, wishes. That is enough for Marcin to start with.
